2016 & 2018 & 2019 EVENT: Chess

Checkmate.

The Cincinnati Chess Club will be managing this event at the the finals


Rules: Singles Event. Event will use chess timers to allow for a 30-minute or less (per side) chess game

Qualifiers

  1. Round robin pairings; if three or more players
  2. Two game match if only two players.
  3. Flip for colors
  4. No talking is permitted by players during a game, except for expressions appropriate to the game (i.e., “check, adjust, draw?”).
    1. Games should be played in quiet environment
  5. All games are touch move.
  6. Games shall be of a time limit of 30 minutes per side.
    1. Clocks must be used if available.
  7. Never interfere in another game for any reason whatsoever; including mentioning that a flag has fallen or an illegal move has been made. While your game is still in progress, you may not discuss your game with anyone or receive any assistance relating to your game.
  8. All decisions of the chess arbiters are final.
  9. Only 1 adult and 1 youth winner from each neighborhood.
  10. “Runner up” will leave contact number in case winner can’t make it.
  11. If tied; a playoff will occur.
  12. Playoff time limit of 10 min. per side. Best of three games.

Location = “Yeatman’s Cove” 
The Cincinnati Chess Club will be the officials                                                                                                                                                                                      
Prizes = Medals to top three adults and Youths. (6 total)

  1. 5 round tournament (5 games) Possibly less rounds depending on number of participants.
  2. 20 minutes per side

To lose
1) King is in Checkmate or player resigns (= 0pt)

To Win
1) Checkmate your opponents King. (= 1pt)
 
A Draw (or tie) (= 1/2pt)

Singles Age Groups: 2 - Youth (age 7-13) and Adults (14 and older)
Qualifying Singles per Neighborhood: 2 - First Place per Age Group will qualify (this is a gender neutral event)
Maximum Qualifying Participants Per Neighborhood: 2 - (1 youth and 1 adult)
