relay checkpoint details
Partnering with Red Bike, we will ride a torch (torch will be fake, biking around a real torch sounds cool at first...) through every Cincinnati Neighborhood. The relay will begin in Sayler Park on Friday, July 16th at 7am and will end that day after riding 70 miles and checking into 44 neighborhoods around 8 pm in Walnut Hills. We will start up again on Saturday, July 17th at 6 am in Walnut Hills and will cover 14 more miles and 8 more neighborhoods before ending Downtown at the Cincinnati Neighborhood Games Opening Ceremonies at Yeatman's Cove at 9 AM to light the Flame (a fake flame, but probably still cool). Please see the bottom of this page for relay checkpoint details.
Every neighborhood will have a check point where riders switch off. We hope to have a crowd at each neighborhood check point to cheer on their neighbor as they ride the torch off to the next neighborhood. Therefore, we are looking for 52 riders to take on the honor of carrying the flame. We will notify riders on July 9th of their assigned check point.
Regarding safety: Red Bike will have a buffer van and there will be a lead truck as well. Riders will be required to bring their own helmet. A Cincinnati Red Bike will be provided, so no need to bring your own. Bike riders are asked to have a friend pick them up where they are scheduled to finish.
